Narathiwat
is the southernmost Thai coastal province facing the Thai Gulf
and borders northeast Malaysia. The provincial capital is 1,437
kiolmeters south of Bangkok by road, and 1,116 kilometers by rail.
The province covers some 4,475 square kilometers, two thirds of
which are forested mountains. The inhabitants of Narathiwat (which
means'the residence of good people') are largely farmers and fishermen.
Narathiwat has
an area of 44,754 square kilometers consisting of 13 Amphur: Muang
Narathiwat, Tak Bai, Waeng, Yee-ngor, Su-ngai Kolok, Su-ngai Padee,
Bachoh, Ra-ngae, Rue-soh, Sukhirin, Srisakhorn, Cha-nae and Choh-ai-rong.

Climate
There
are only 2 seasons in Narathiwat: Summer and Rainy season. The average
temperature is 27-29 degrees celcius, as for the language dialect
called "The Native Malay Language" is used. The major industries
of the people of the Narathiwat are the Rubber plantations, Coconut
plantations, Fruit orchards, Farming, Fishing, Etc.
Transportation
Narathiwat
can be most conveniently reached by car from Bangkok by taking Highway
4 (Buddha Monthon Road) to Nakhon Pathom, and thence to Chumporn
via Petchaburi, Hua Hin and Chumporn, and thence onto Highway 401
to Nakhon Si Thammarat, thence to Hat Yai, Pattani and Narathiwat.
