Khang 26 km.,just opposite the Sadao District Office.
Historical Tunnel, Nam Khang
Mountain is far form Khao Nam Khang Nation Park about 4 km.It is recently
open to the public as a new tourist attraction and different from others
destinations of Songkhla.Nice sceneries of mountains and forest around the
tunnel, pure air, the history of the tunnel as well as the lives of residents
are very interesting and worth studying.
After the long battle was
over, the tunnel, which was partly damaged during the battle, is renovated,
preserving it as a site for study, history, and tourist attraction.
The tunnel was dug into
the mountain with only 3 entrances at the beginning. Later it was extended
to 16 entrances with 3 floors, linked to each floor with stairs. The length
inside the tunnel is about 1,000 meters long, devided to many rooms such
as bed rooms, cooking room, meeting room, emergency room, communication
room, shooting range, etc. It took 2 years to finish the tunnel by man.
Moreover, outside the tunnel provides basket ball course, kitchen, wedding
room and residence for comrades.
Besides a food shop, a souvenir
shop and herbal remedies which are now available at the tunnel complex.
Accomodation is going to be in sevice.
